Rolling Loud Festival
What is the Rolling Loud Festival?
What exactly is the Rolling Loud Festival? Rolling Loud, a general term for a variety of topics, is now an official hip hop-based event that is literally taking over the world. Rolling Loud has grown into a global empire that many festivals in the industry are beginning to look up to after only three years. So, what exactly is Rolling Loud, you might ask?
Despite being one of the industry's newest names, Rolling Loud does not disappoint when it comes to attracting large crowds. Rolling Loud grew from a humble one-day event to the leading music festival in its genre, earning the title of the fastest growing live music festival of its time. Rolling Loud has welcomed hundreds of thousands of revelers, with some of the industry's biggest names headlining its shows.
Rolling Loud is entirely curated and run independently by a small group of concert promoters. Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler founded and run Rolling Loud.
After five years of consistently building their brand and successfully putting on hip hop shows throughout Florida, they revealed their plans for an all-day musical experience featuring Schoolboy Q, Juicy J, A$AP Ferg, Action Bronson, Currensy, Travis Scott, and many more renowned hip hop artists. When Rolling Loud debuted its first show, co-founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif were only 26 and 25 years old, respectively.
While booking club acts in Florida, they became involved in the live show business. Dope Entertainment was founded in 2010 by two childhood friends who were arranging concerts throughout the state when they noticed a gap in the live-music industry. It lacked a festival solely dedicated to hip-hop.
The duo was already acquainted with both newcomers to the scene and those who were already well-established.
They figured out how to capitalize on the one thing the live music industry lacked. And, fortunately, it was in high demand.
Did you know that Young Thug's first festival performance was at Rolling Loud? And he wasn't the only rapper to experience their first taste of fame on the Miami stage. Lil Yachty was booked and paid a meager $1,500 for his first show, and other rappers who now earn hundreds of thousands can say the same.
While the festival's lineup has already been revised, founder Matt Zingler stated in an interview that the element of surprise in terms of special guests and surprise performers is part of what makes Rolling Loud unique.
While Miami is considered the "mothership," Rolling Loud has grown into an international brand that has spread across the globe. It has previously held successful editions of the three-day festival in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York, and Sydney, with future shows returning to some of these locations.
Rolling Loud and the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) announced a collaboration last year to raise awareness of social justice issues. Throughout the three-day festival, the organization will prioritize activism and community through a series of panel discussions, fundraising efforts, and other activities. Discussions will include thought leaders from the industry, activists, and musicians who have used their platforms to advocate for change.
When was the first Rolling Loud Festival?
When did the first Rolling Loud Festival take place? It's no coincidence that Rolling Loud was born and developed in Miami during a particularly fertile period for Floridian hip-hop, with the nascent SoundCloud rap scene in the first half of the decade bringing through a slew of future stars from The Sunshine State who would go on to garner acclaim across North America and beyond, including Denzel Curry, Lil Pump, Ski Mask the Slump God, XXXTentacion, Kodak Black
A quick glance at the poster for the inaugural edition in 2015 reveals a handful of local acts – Denzel Curry, Robb Banks, Yung Simmie – but what's perhaps more telling is the caliber of other names secured for the inaugural festival, a one-day affair held indoors in late February. The headliner was Schoolboy Q. Other performers included Travis Scott, Action Bronson, and A$AP Ferg.
And this is a testament to the organizers' history and immersion in the world of live hip-hop, as they have spent years bringing some of the scene's biggest names to Florida for shows. The next logical step was to organize a festival that would allow them to balance big names with local talent on their own terms.
The flagship event in Miami has grown and grown over the years, quickly becoming a two-day, then three-day event that has hosted the likes of Future, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, A$AP Rocky, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Migos, Lil Uzi Vert, Joey Bada$$, Post Malone, and countless others, becoming one of the world's largest festivals of its kind.
The festival's first show in 2015 drew only 6,000 people. The numbers now tell a different story. Since then, the number of revelers has grown exponentially with each passing year. Rolling Loud has made Miami its overall home, now featuring three full days of music, art, and tens of thousands of fans gathered together for their love of the hip hop movement.
The Miami event will be held July 22-24, 2022 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL, and the Toronto event will be held September 9-11, 2022 at Ontario Place in Toronto, Canada.

What am I supposed to wear to the Rolling Loud Festival?
Miami can get quite hot, you should pack lighter, more comfortable clothing. When you wear thicker and heavier clothing, you are more likely to become sweaty and tired. As a result, this packing list is divided into three sections: casual, formal, and general. Casual will focus on clothing that you might wear to Rolling Loud, the beach, or simply exploring Miami. Formal clothing includes items that you might want to wear to a formal meeting or restaurant.
Casual:
T-shirts – Miami is almost certainly going to be hot or warm (somewhere above 80 degrees). T-shirts are an excellent choice for this type of weather. T-shirts allow you to stay modest while enjoying the weather. Wearing lighter fabric t-shirts, such as cotton, is a great idea.
Cotton clothing is ideal for hot weather because it keeps you cooler than most other fabrics. Another suggestion is to wear lighter-colored shirts. Lighter colors tend to reflect sunlight while darker colors absorb it, as you've probably heard. For this trip, you might want to bring some white or light-colored shirts.
Shorts – Shorts, like t-shirts, are a casual necessity. Choose some lighter, more breathable shorts. Cotton shorts are one of the best options because they are inexpensive and widely available. Linen and silk are two other breathable fabrics (these tend to be a little more expensive). For exploring Miami, lighter cargo shorts are ideal. Because you'll most likely be carrying your phone, wallet, and other belongings, the pockets allow you to go hands-free.
Jeans – Jeans are an excellent piece of clothing to bring on your trip. It goes with so many things because it is so versatile. You can dress it down with a t-shirt or up with a polo or suit jacket. Joggers or sweatpants are another great option to have on hand.
These are typically comfortable and ideal for working out or casual wear. Try chino pants if you want to look a little more stylish. They not only look great, but they are also very comfortable if properly fitted.
Formal:
Dress Shirts – Dress shirts are a good option to have if you want to go a little classier and more formal. Long-sleeve or short-sleeve t-shirts, whether long or short-sleeve, should be lighter in color. Once again, the principle of "light colors reflect and dark colors absorb" comes into play. Also, if you're wearing it with a suit jacket, you should probably go with a breathable fabric like cotton, silk, or linen. Satin can be light and a good choice for dress shirts at times.
Dress Pants – If you're going to wear a dress shirt, you should also bring dress pants. A good pair of pants complements a good shirt, so you can look your best if you choose the right combination. When it comes to dress pants, it can be difficult to find a good-looking lighter shade, so go for something like a lighter navy blue or gray. Although black is a very elegant color, it attracts heat to your body.
Suit Pieces – When most people think of elegance or formal wear (particularly in men's clothing), they think of suits or suit jackets. They add a lot of flavor and style to an outfit, which is something that most people look for when attempting to dress formally.
When in Miami, you may want to avoid extremely dark options. Choose a light color, such as gray or a lighter navy blue (just like the pants). Because a suit is typically a heavier/thicker type of clothing option, it is best to choose lighter options if you want to be comfortable after a few hours in them. Thinner cotton or silk suits are an excellent lightweight option.
